WE know there’s a lot to read here, but we are overflowing with ideas for our sophomore year. If you want to know more keep reading, if you want the short version: we want more dogs on campus.

THE CULTURE

We are Cade, Sara, Ebbie, and Joe, and we are here for you. We didn’t decide to run for sophomore class president to toss it on our resumes and Instagram bios; we did it because we love Stanford. All four of us love going to school here, and we want you to love it too – real talk. No matter how you feel about The Farm, we think we might just have a few decent ideas on how to make your stay here a bit more enjoyable, even if you are one of the unfortunate souls enrolled in Math 51. Our goal is to establish a culture of openness, supportive collaboration, and, ultimately, one of excitement!

Do you remember the day you got into Stanford? Do you remember clicking that link, and realizing that from that day on your life would never be the same? All four of us are absolutely ecstatic to have the opportunity to experience something as insane as four years at Stanford University, and we want our campaign, and hopefully our time as presidents, to reflect that child-like enthusiasm. There are so many things to take advantage of at a place like Stanford, and we want to help you guys find those ephemeral passions floating somewhere in the back of your mind that you just might not have been able to pin down yet. We’re not here to lie to you and tell you about all of the policies we’re going to change on campus because, quite frankly, sophomore class presidents do not have that much power within the maybe not so well-oiled machine that is Stanford administration (we know that’s a mind blower). BUT, what we can do for you, is be your friend. Your guide. Your muse. We can influence the Stanford landscape in the way you see fit. We want to hear what you think it means to go to Stanford. Together, we can change the culture because together, we are the culture.

Below we answer a few questions that you may have! :)

Call us the emperor's new clothes because we're crystal clear

Our goal is to be as transparent as possible, so we won’t lie to you. It’s not within our power to increase funding for on campus resources or change policy, but what we do have is the power of influence. We hope to facilitate healthy conversations about issues that arise on campus at our monthly town hall meetings, and we want everyone to be involved. Our number one priority is to create an environment where everyone feels safe. How will we be transparent? Our meetings will always be open to the public, we will post meeting information and notes on our Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook page, or website, and create a virtual suggestion box where you can give us your ideas! The Culture is nothing without your input. Do you have a suggestion for us right now? Contact us!

Tired of biking? Try scootering!

The Culture is dedicated to enhancing the fun-loving culture of Stanford. We want sophomore year to be just as fun and exciting as freshman fall! How? Scooter races! Light-up fidget spinners! Class mixers! Formal on a boat! Self-care study breaks! Movie nights on Wilbur field! Field day! Star gazing! Quidditch! Puppies! Pool parties!Light-saber wars! Swag! Video-game nights! & so much more! We want to create events that make it easy to maintain our friendships from freshman year while we continue to meet the amazing members of our community as sophomores. We we want to make sure that our social events reflect the interests of the class of 2021 so event planning will always take into account everyone’s diverse ideas and perspectives.

Do it for the culture

We want our sophomore year to be fun and exciting, but we realize that there are important issues on campus. We hope to work with different groups across campus to raise awareness and influence policy-makers on campus. We want every voice, thought, and idea across campus to be heard. We value your thoughts and ideas. We want to serve as a megaphone to amplify each and every one of your voices. We hope to implement several boards across campus where students can anonymously post ideas, suggestions, compliments, action items, kudos and more in order to facilitate a culture of positivity and inclusivity within the class of 2021.

No matter where your Stanford experience takes you, make it fun. Decide to love every second you get to spend here. Believe in this place, believe in the culture.

Please get in touch if you have any idea, comments, questions, or concerns! All of our contact info can be found on this website

P.S. Check out this really cool start up which is essentially Zipcar for electric scooters! As presidents we hope to introduce fun, new, inventive ideas like this to campus to keep things interesting!
